The register
Ring up with photos and categories, apply a discount to a line or the whole bill, take cash or charge to a room, and print. Receipts number themselves per till, so two counters never collide.
NIO POS is a point of sale for cafés, restaurants, guesthouses and shops in the Maldives. Rufiyaa and GST are not an add-on. Neither is charging a plate of hedhikaa to room 204.

GST is charged on the discounted amount, not the menu price. Money is held to four decimal places and never as floating point.
What it runs today
Ring up with photos and categories, apply a discount to a line or the whole bill, take cash or charge to a room, and print. Receipts number themselves per till, so two counters never collide.
Open a table, add to it all evening, and settle once. Guests scan the QR on the table to order themselves, and the counter can keep adding to that same bill when they ask for one more thing.
Orders land in the kitchen the moment they are sent, with the variant and every modifier spelled out — 2× Flat White — Large · Oat, not just “Latte”. Any spare Android tablet becomes the screen.
Items with photos, categories, sizes and add-ons, each with its own price and tax. Type your menu in, or mirror it from NIO Books — and anything you typed in yourself survives every sync.
Everyone signs in with a PIN, so every sale has a name on it. Cashier, waiter, kitchen and manager each see only their own screens. Add a till, pair a tablet, retire a lost one.
Close the day and the takings go to NIO Books as a journal that posts once, however many times it is sent. Or keep the books in NIO POS and connect nothing at all.
Built for here
Most point of sale software treats a guest folio as an enterprise feature. Here it is Tuesday. NIO POS ships room charge in the box, and will talk to whatever the property already runs.
Tax sits on the item, is charged on the discounted amount, and the remainder from splitting a bill discount lands on the last line so the total always reconciles.
Confirm the room number and the guest's name, and the charge goes on their folio for the front desk to settle. The internal ledger needs no other system.
Opera Cloud, Mews, Cloudbeds and eZee Absolute. Pick one in settings, paste the credentials, and charges post to the real guest bill.
Hardware
No proprietary terminal, no yearly hardware contract. NIO POS installs on an ordinary Android tablet and talks to any 80mm thermal printer over Bluetooth or the network. Receipts, kitchen tickets and table QR codes all print as real ESC/POS, including the QR itself.
On the way
Listed because you should know what is not here yet, not as a promise with a date on it.
Questions
Yes. Tax is set per item and charged on the discounted amount, so a bill with a discount charges GST on what the customer actually pays. Prices are tax-exclusive, and money is held as exact decimals rather than floating point, so a long day of sales still reconciles to the rufiyaa.
Yes. The cashier confirms the room number and the guest's name, and the charge goes onto a folio the front desk settles at check-out. NIO POS keeps that ledger itself, or posts the charge to Opera Cloud, Mews, Cloudbeds or eZee Absolute if the property already runs one.
No. NIO POS owns its own catalogue and sells perfectly well with no accounting system connected. Connect NIO Books and it mirrors your items, tax rates and customers and posts the day's takings back — and anything you typed into the POS yourself is left alone by every sync.
The register keeps selling. Sales carry an id generated on the device, so when the connection returns nothing is entered twice, however many times it retries.
An Android tablet or phone on 7.0 or later, and any 80mm ESC/POS thermal printer over Bluetooth or the network. Cash drawers open from the printer, and USB or Bluetooth barcode scanners work as keyboards with no setup.
Get started
Each shop gets its own address, its own menu and its own staff PINs. Setting one up takes an afternoon, not a project.
